OXFORD GARDENS

WOODSTOCK, ON

Chartwell Oxford Gardens - an independent supportive living retirement residence located in the charming town of Woodstock. We are proud to have been involved in the design and construction of this well-established building. Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure that the building's structure is not only safe but also functional. The building features a range of spacious studio, one- and two-bedroom suites, many of which have private balconies or walk out patios.

Oxford Gardens is a 4-Storey 103,000 square foot building. The building footprint is irregular shaped with a sloping grade. This addition to the original 2 storey retirement home is built using conventional wood construction. The floor system is wood I-joists spanning demising walls sheathed with plywood. This structure was light weight, cost effective, energy efficient and optimized for the floor plans.

Some of the challenges on this project were the irregular shape of the structure and the sloping terrain. The entire consulting team worked tirelessly coordinating building elevations and horizontal jogs in to maximize the building footprint without overcomplicating the construction process. Our efforts paved the way for a smooth construction phase.
