LOCKE’S PUBLIC SCHOOL

ST. THOMAS, ON

Locke's Public School is one of the oldest schools within the Thames Valley School Board. In June 2019, the school celebrated its remarkable 100-year anniversary, and the original school house block is still present in the building. An expansion project was undertaken to enhance the learning environment and accommodate the needs of modern education while preserving the cherished historic appeal and value of the existing structure.

The expansion involved the addition of a one-storey block bearing wing to the school and a large gym addition. The new wing and facilities provided additional classroom and support spaces to accommodate the growing student population and evolving educational needs.

Great care was taken throughout the expansion to ensure the historical charm and significance of the existing structure were preserved. This approach aimed to maintain the school's historical value while simultaneously incorporating modern amenities and improvements. The successful completion of the expansion project allowed Locke's Public School to continue its longstanding tradition of providing quality education while embracing its rich heritage.
