London Fire Training Tower
Institutional
The London Fire Department Training Tower is a 4-storey masonry structure located in London, ON behind Fire Hall 9. It is used by London Fire and Police to simulate fire and emergency scenarios so that their teams are ready to face them safely and effectively. Masonry was chosen as the primary structural system to ensure a high degree of resilience under fire, which was a necessity since parts of it are regularly set on fire for training. The building’s roof is fully accessible with roof anchors and heavy-duty guards to allow teams to train for rappelling and entry from above.
